Mersing
Mersing is an erstwhile sleepy fisherman's kampong that reinvented itself as the defacto jumping board to Tioman Island once Tioman became the famous paradise island that it is today. Mersing is located about a 2+ two hour's drive from Singapore's side of the Woodlands check point. If you're coming from Kuala Lumpur, then it's about a five hour trip.

Another quite useful website is the one of
Mersing Harbour Centre. This tourism complex was opened recently and is currently the one and only one-top shop that covers the entire Mersing area, both offshore and inland. It also gives a full overview of all Mersing's accommodations.
